| | The University of Minnesota at Crookston agriculture management systems department is spearheading a research to mass-produce canola into biodiesel fuel. In two weeks’ time, the institution has already produced 600 gallons of oil. For each 100 pounds of canola seed, 30 pounds of that are converted into biodiesel or at 25 cents per pound. Aside from canola, the university is also tapping sunflowers and soybeans for their study. |

| | John Deere soars its November-January earnings at 55 percent as compared to the same period last year. It grew from $5.2 billion this year as compared to only $4.43 billion last year. 37 percent of the growth comes from overseas sales while 18 percent come from domestic sales. Because of this trend, John Deere attributes the increase in sales to the sinking of the dollar to higher farm equipment demand abroad because of higher farm product prices. |

Mike Huckabee - and one Democrat - former Arkansas First Lady Hillary Clinton - are battling it out to gain their respective parties' nomination for the United States presidency. The farmers understand that if an Arkansas native is elected as US president, they will surely have greater lobbying chances. They want the folks in Berryville to buy more local produce. In fact, a car totally using ethanol as fuel will have test drives during the fifth annual Agricultural Showcase of the state on March 1 at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds. Wisconsin is producing 291 million gallons of ethanol annually. |
